Intern- Experienced Curriculum Developer

USRA is an independent, nonprofit research corporation where the combined efforts of in-house talent and university-based expertise merge to advance space science and technology. USRA works across disciplines including biomedicine, planetary science, astrophysics, and engineering and integrates those competencies into applications ranging from fundamental research to facility management and operations. USRA engages the creativity and authoritative expertise of the research community to develop and deliver sophisticated, forward-looking solutions to Federal agencies and other customers - on schedule and within budget. 
USRA is seeking an experienced curriculum developer for a six month assignment to create a training curriculum for mentors and interns to enhance their experience and increase their current skill set. Content areas may include mentoring best practices; unconscious bias; diversity, equity and inclusion; selecting candidates, interviewing best practices; skill enhancement; professionalism. To qualify for this position, you must be a U.S. citizen and able to pass a government security background investigation. 
Essential Duties/Responsibilities:
  • Conduct research and collaborate with subject matter experts, leadership, and other stakeholders to develop quality learning resources.
  • Develop curriculum, course syllabi, and stimulating learning plans for many different topics.
  • Research and collaboration will be required to develop instructional content that guides learners toward skill enhancement.
  • Evaluate delivery methods of content material that engages different types of learners.
  • Create, edit, and revise training material based on collaborative feedback.
  • Develop measurement tools to evaluate the effectiveness of the training material.
Required Qualifications:
Education:
  • Graduate student currently pursuing master’s degree in Education, Instructional Design, or a related discipline. 
Experience:
  • Experience developing training curriculum
  • Knowledge of best practices in curriculum design and learning principles
  • Strong knowledge of digital learning tools
  • Strong planning skills
  • Ability to incorporate feedback into course material
  • Knowledge of copyright and trademark rules for writing and delivering content
  • Ability to deliver high quality content in engaging formats geared to different audiences

Technology:
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and its applications.
  • Advanced computing and software skills and ability to quickly learn and use relevant program-specific software.
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and infographic software (i.e., Venngage and Canva) is strongly desired.
Working Conditions:
This job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, etc. Extensive online usage. This is largely a sedentary role with occasional lifting required.
