Seagate Head Disc Mechanical Engineer - Summer Intern

Location:  Longmont, CO, US

About our group:

Have you seen press releases from Seagate about the latest state of the art Heat Assisted Magnetic Recording (HAMR)? This team contributes to the head and disk design for making large capacity disk drives with this latest technology – Design verification, failure analysis, problem solving, data analysis and hands on lab measurements. Very fast pace environment with many challenging opportunities.


About the role - you will:

  • Optimize the head/disk mechanical interface.
  • Bench level testing of hard drives.
  • Analyze large data sets of hard drive parametrics.
  • Work both independently and with a team.


About you:

  • A proficient experimentalist
  • Ability to process and analyze large data sets
  • Program in Python or Matlab
  • Hands on failure analysis skills
  • Willing to learn
  • Work in a self-directed manor


Your experience includes:

  • Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Physics, Material Science, Control theory or other related degree and enrolled in fall 2022 courses
  • Familiarity with Tribology principles
  • Hands on failure analysis skills
  • Familiar with Oscilloscopes and lab equipment
  • Some lab equipment experience
 
You might also have:
  • Programming experience
  • Lab equipment experience such as oscilloscopes, Spectrum analyzers, LDV, etc. 
 
Colorado's 2021 Equal Pay for Equal Work Act (SB 19-085) requires we inform you of the estimated base salary range for this position: $18 - 24.50. Actual range is based on fair market value of the role in the geography in which you live based on the requirements of the job and your skills. This posted salary range is a good faith and reasonable estimate, and Seagate reserves the right to adjust this range depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
