Education and Visitor Services Internship (Free Housing Available)

Description of Duties: The Intern performs a variety of visitor services at two primary locations: Visitor Center, and the McLean House. Duties may include but are not limited to (everything depends on Covid-19 restrictions):
·      Opening and closing historic structures and providing low-level security
·      Operating the park’s movie.
·      Operating the Visitor Center providing:
o  Park Orientation
o  Interpretation of closing events of the Civil War at Appomattox Court House and elsewhere.
o  Supplying informational material about the park and surrounding area. 
·      If desired after appropriate experience in the field and demonstrating necessary knowledge, passing a test, proven public speaking skills and approved, a Intern may perform the following optional duties:
o  Give formally structured talks.
o  Aid in researching for visitors or the historian.
o  Social Media write-ups.
Normally that time of the year the Park has school groups that come through March-May. Great opportunity to work with grades of all levels.
