FOX 5 TV, Washington DC's #1 news station with the most hours of local news, has a remarkable opportunity for a motivated and dynamic News Reporter. This position requires a highly creative individual with the ability to research, write and deliver compelling news stories to maintain viewer interest. The ideal candidate will be an outstanding storyteller and live on-air performer with strong interviewing skills, solid journalistic judgment and the ability to ad-lib effectively. Candidates must be able to demonstrate their success at developing and maintaining powerful story source networks. Work cohesively with producers, editors and photographers to create captivating news stories and features, taped and live, to connect with the viewers and grow ratings. Work accurately and efficiently within time constraints. Make public appearances on behalf of the station. Work with social media to attract, inform and engage the audience. High standard of quality and attention to detail. Deadline driven. Social media enthusiast. Friendly, respectful and collaborative. Must be exceptionally creative and able to find new ways to present information. Must be self-motivated and effectively work independently and on a team. Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field required. Minimum 5 years industry experience, 3+ years in a medium to large market. Investigative journalism required. Recent experience and proficiency with newsroom computers, live news technology and related software required. Must have, or be willing to obtain, a valid driver’s license and be able to drive.
