CARES After-School Assistant
The CARES after-school program Assistant collaborates with the CARES Coordinator to organize and supervise the CARES after-school supervision program by providing activities, homework assistance, and supervision for students electing to stay at Woodlynde after the normal school day has concluded.
Duties and Responsibilities:
· · Collaborates with the CARES coordinator to provide fun, interactive activities for students enrolled in the program
· Works with the CARES coordinator to facilitate the program
· Ensures the safety of program participants by providing adequate supervision
· Organizes games, arts, crafts, movies, and activities to keep the students engaged
· Provides time and assists students with their homework
· Supervises students outside on the playground on good-weather days
· Communicates anything of note to parents when they arrive for pick-up (injuries, illness, homework issues, etc.) as well to the CARES coordinator and head of lower school
· Provides first aid for any student who has a minor injury, and communicates to an administrator when an injury is more significant
· Establishes positive relationships with students and manages the behavior of students while in the after-school program
· Maintains daily student attendance records in conjunction with the CARES coordinator
Qualifications:
High school diploma required; some post-secondary work in education preferred. Experience in childcare or education preferred.
Working Conditions:
10-month position. 8 - 15 hour work week.
