The International Foundation for Electoral Systems is implementing an internal monitoring and evaluation (M&E) indicators database. IFES has begun working to utilize this database for current IFES program, to collect regular performance data. Given the complex level of data disaggregation, huge volume of quantitative and qualitative data collection, large number of projects, and most importantly time limitations, IFES is hiring an intern to provide support to database related activities such as data collection, quality check, and entry in the database.
Job Responsibilities:DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Work with the relevant program teams to collect and populate database with realistic, reliable, and timely historical data.
  • Work under direction of the Database points of contact to continuously check quality of data in the database for completeness, relevance, timeliness, and other standards in accordance to the specifications of indicators described in the performance indicators reference sheets (PIRS).
  • Meet monthly data entry deadlines effectively, ensure that data is collected, checked and ready for data entry through proactive follow up with field teams before the deadline looms.
  • Provide timely support to relevant program teams in addressing database issues or requests to allow smooth maintenance of the database.
  • Identify and report to the Database points of contact gaps in skills and knowledge of program teams related to data collection, database maintenance and data quality.
  • Attend all database training events to understand skills of data entry into database including data quality standards, disaggregation requirements, reporting period, running reports and maintaining the database with up to date data.
  • Provide attention to details to achieve thoroughness and accuracy in data entry in the database.
  • Any other activity related to data entry, documentation, and/or provide refresher orientation to new comers as and when requested
POSITION REQUIREMENTS:
  • Must be currently in undergraduate or graduate program or a recent graduate
  • Can produce results in fast paced work environment within deadlines
  • Has good typing speed in English
  • Can work regular office hours
  • Experience with Excel
  • Interest in databases, data processes, international development, democracy and governance or related.
  • Familiarity with databases is preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with monitoring and evaluation is preferred, but not required
  • Familiarity with international development is preferred, but not required
