Senior Business Data Analyst Supervisor

The Virginia Department of Transportation’s (VDOT) Construction Division is excited to offer and announce an opportunity to serve as a Senior Business Data Analyst Supervisor.
Position specific responsibilities and duties will include, but not limited to:
  • Strategic Release Plan – Responsible for coordinating across competing business modules to form an integrated solution for all software under the directorates purview. Forward-plan release schedules and resources required to implement application updates, operating system patches, security improvements, hardware upgrades and to ensure successful implementation of impacted Projects and Programs by reporting product release dependencies.
  • Software Customer Support – Responsible for Division customer support activities. Manage escalated situations from phone calls to ticket follow-up. Determine and manage metrics to improve support team outcomes. Manage Risk Assessment, Audit, and Reconciliation of System compliance activities. Communicate with business partners at all levels.
  • Special Assignments – Serve as subject matter expert or provide management support to special projects and initiatives, including the SMART SCALE prioritization process and efforts related to the enhancement and replacement of the iSYP suite.
  • Performance Reporting – Oversee public and internal website updates, ensuring sites reflect the Divisions actions relative to procurements, IIMs, CABB, System Security, User Access, Section Policies, Procedures and Templates and other Division information as required.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Project Management Skills to include scoping, scheduling, identifying tasks and deliverables, resource planning, drafting project plans, risk management, communications and marketing, testing to ensure business goals align with outcomes, status reporting, maintenance planning and deployment activities.
  • Experience leading a team and generating enthusiasm to organize and standardize team tasks, diagrams and deliverables and providing the administrative support and file structure to handle scheduled reviews of items to maintain currency; such as strategic release plans and other project plans, training materials, procedures, templates, etc.
  • ­Knowledge of theory and principles of database development, data management, business process improvement, and performance management.
  • ­Demonstrated skill developing and managing large data sets and integrating data from different sources and across different platforms. ­Skill in working with business and financial information systems.
  • ­Ability to apply logic and reasoning to identify and analyze problem areas and recommend various solutions consistent with applicable regulations and policies.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Masters degree in public policy, business administration, finance, or related field preferred; equivalent experience or training may substitute for degree.
  • ­Ability to coordinate the efforts of large teams to solve complex problems.
  • ­Ability to effectively communicate both orally and in writing.
  • Knowledge of Research and Development tasks a plus; certification in Business Analysis or equivalency.
