The EPA National Student Services Contract has an immediate opening for a full-time contractor position; Energy System Modeler with the Office of Research and Development at the EPA facility in Research Triangle Park, NC. 

This is an excellent opportunity for a recent Master’s graduate to collaborate with EPA’s research team. Research experience includes:
·       Literature Reviewing;
·       Data Analyzing;
·       Modeling; and
·       Networking and exploring many career paths at EPA.

Location: This job will be located at EPA’s facility in Research Triangle Park, NC.
Salary: $30.16 per hour.
Travel: Occasional overnight travel may be required.

Required Skills:
·       Experience with air pollution control technologies, energy efficiency concepts, the economics of pollution reduction, lifecycle analysis, and environmental system analysis;
·       Knowledge of and some experience with energy systems modeling frameworks including at least one of the following MARKAL, TIMES, GCAM, LEAP, NEMS or OSeMOSYS;
·       Strong written, oral and electronic communication skills; and
·       Experience programming in Python and R or other scripting languages.

Desired Skills:
·       Experience using GitHub is desired.

What the EPA project is about
ORD/CEMM/AESMD helps provide the basis for the formulation of EPA’s environmental policies and programs by playing a vital role in the scientific research mission of the Agency. ORD/CEMM/AESMD helps develop and evaluate solutions to environmental problems faced by EPA, local and state agencies, and the public, and seeks to provide information and tools that enable the Agency to develop the cost effective and sustainable approaches to protecting human health and the environment. 

Qualifications               
·       Be at least 18 years of age and
·       Have earned at least a Master’s degree in a STEM discipline (Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics) or a closely related field of study from an accredited university or college within the last 24 months and
·       Be a citizen of the United States of America or a Legal Permanent Resident.
