Speech Language Pathologist

All clinical encounters are characterized by direct intervention with the client and their family with minimal need for teletherapy services. Job Type: Part-time to full-time.
Days/Hours: Monday-Friday with options for a 4-day work week.
Location: Outpatient only in Waynesboro, VA.
Pay Rate: $30-$45/hour based on qualifications and experience.

Job Responsibilities:
  • Evaluation, treatment, screening, and discharge planning for pediatric patients experiencing speech, language, voice, feeding/swallowing, cognitive, and other difficulties.
  • Review of referrals, collaboration with office staff on scheduling, and preparation for plan of care initiation.
  • Selection of appropriate combination of standardized assessments, clinical and manual evaluations, interviews, and observations necessary to gain a comprehensive understanding of each client’s functioning.
  • Interpretation of all clinical findings and communication of results and plan to child’s family and medical team via thorough evaluation reports.
  • Design of family-centered treatment plans which consider the child’s culture, routines, preferences, strengths, and weaknesses.
  • Modification of communication, treatment, and/or presentation style based on the needs of each client.
  • Thorough and ethical documentation of progress using an electronic medical record system and adherence to federal and state guidelines.
  • Monitoring of compliance with insurance plans and preparation of supporting documentation necessary for continued treatment authorization.
  • Consistent communication of progress, expectations, and resources to client and their support system including family, educational team, and other treatment providers.
  • Adherence to team practice standards and commitment to professional presentation.
  • Completion of all necessary continuing education competencies to sustain licensure in good standing.
  • Collaboration with a creative team of occupational therapists, physical therapists, and other SLPs.
Necessary Qualifications:
  • Completion of Master’s or Doctoral-level degree in a relevant field.
  • Active license (in good standing) to practice as an SLP in the state of Virginia.
  • At least 1 year of experience as a Speech Language Pathologist.
  • Current professional liability insurance policy (or willing to obtain).
  • A passion for working with children and the daily joy derived from being part of their treatment.
  • Strong clinical skills in an environment where children’s caregivers depend greatly on your knowledge and expertise.
  • Adaptability to change in a growing clinical atmosphere.
  • Strong communication and client advocacy skills.
  • Experience with electronic medical records.
  • Proof of current CPR and Basic Life Support certification (or willing to obtain).
  • Proof of COVID-19 vaccination (or willing to obtain if medically able).
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience with pediatrics and outpatient settings.
  • Experience working with a multi-specialty team and communicating with specialists across medical and educational settings.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products.
  • A smiling face!
