Realty Specialist Intern

Duty Location:
Roseburg, OR

Tenure: 6 months starting September 20, 2021, Full Time (40 hours/week)
 
Position Description:
This position is located on a Forest Service unit. As trainee realty specialist performs work assignments designed to familiarize the incumbent with the principles and techniques associated with land activities, including real property accountability, real estate transactions, real property assignments, special use permits, leases, land status, withdrawals, title claims, rights-of-way, procurements and grants, water rights, boundary management, and/or appraisals.

Duties:
  • Performs training assignments designed to provide the incumbent with the specialized knowledge and experience necessary to assume higher level realty responsibilities.
  • Becomes familiar with agency policies and regulations associated with lands activities.
  • Receives formal and on-the-job training to acquire the experience necessary to negotiate, prepare lands activities packages, and complete such transactions in accordance with Forest Service policies and directives.
  • In a training capacity, researches and extracts real estate ownership data, compiles reports on ownership information, land status, water rights, and reviews simple realty instruments to ensure that all requirements are met.
  • Receives training in land techniques, including the inspection of property, the assembly of comparable sales information and other real estate market data, the verification of real estate transactions through contacts with buyers, sellers, and real estate agents, review of land status and water rights.

Qualifications:
  • Basic knowledge of realty instruments, use of supporting documents, real estate terminology, and basic realty procedures to acquire practical experience in negotiating and finalizing land activities
  • Ability to communicate effectively orally and in writing

*This is a 1099 position. Persons paid on a 1099 basis are independent contractors and are self-employed.
