Digital Literacy Intern

POSITION SUMMARY: 
This position helps clients with limited English and technical skills to access virtual education. It includes training clients on how to use the most commonly used virtual tools, as well as providing ongoing technical support.
 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

·        Train clients in the basics of digital literacy
·        Provide tech support to clients who need tech support
·        Maintain, update, and track laptops available for lending to clients
 
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
·        Ability to work effectively and sensitively with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
·        Ability to speak clearly and comfortably on the phone with partners and participants, which include people with limited English abilities and/or the use of interpreters
·        Ability to utilize communication over internet tools such as Zoom and other programs
 
REQUIREMENTS:
·        Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
·        Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
·        Acknowledge World Relief’s faith statement
·        Pass a background check
·        The commitment of 240h, with a minimum of 15h/week
·        Fluency in written and spoken English
·        Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, cloud storage, etc)
·        Be familiar with apps and technology items used by the program: IM apps, video conferencing apps, troubleshoot experience with Windows, iPhones, and Androids
 
WORK ENVIRONMENT: 
•       This position is a hybrid of on-site (general office setting) and remote work.
•       Great lengths of time working on computer, reading from computer screen, entering information, standing at copier or fax machine, and some time on the phone or in skype meetings may be required.
•       Year-end archiving activities involve repeated lifting and bending.

•       Equipment used: intern computer (desktop or laptop), printer, and copier.
