Health and Wellness Intern
POSITION SUMMARY:
This position supports WRS departments in researching and providing Health and Wellness education to clients, through ongoing programs and periodic workshops. This position provides outreach to the community to identify relevant presenters, communicate best practices for working with refugees, and share WRS services. This position also assists with the COVID vaccination awareness campaign.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
· Develop curriculum/lessons for the Women’s Integration program, weekend workshops, cultural orientation
· Help to find, schedule, and support presenters for Women’s Integration program and weekend workshops
· Research local resources, grants for the Women’s Integration program
· Support COVID vaccination campaign—getting information out to the community, coordinating with Community Health Workers, connecting with community organizations to identify and build relationships with influencers who can support the COVID vaccination project
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
· Ability to work effectively and sensitively with people of diverse cultural and religious backgrounds
· Ability to speak clearly and comfortably on the phone with partners and participants, which include people with limited English abilities and/or the use of interpreters
· Ability to utilize communication over internet tools such as Zoom and other programs
REQUIREMENTS:
· Committed to the mission, vision, and values of World Relief
· Desire to serve and empower the Church to impact vulnerable communities
· Acknowledge World Relief’s faith statement
· Pass a background check
· The commitment of 240h, with a minimum of 15h/week
· Fluency in written and spoken English
· Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, cloud storage, etc)
