P.A.L. Recreation Center Coordinator
Under general supervision, manage the operations of a Police Athletic League Recreation Center. Supervises the educational and recreational programming for at-risk youth in a Police Athletic League Recreation Center; screens, evaluates, and monitors clients, and makes referrals to other agencies or professionals.
- Manages the daily operations of a PAL-Recreation Center. Supervises and trains staff.
- Plans, schedules, and oversees a program of diversified services to Police Athletic League clients.
- Supervises a variety of recreation and education activities designed to meet the needs of at-risk youth, primarily between the ages of seven and seventeen.
- Interviews clients to assess needs and to determine necessity for referral to licensed professionals.
- Monitors and evaluates clients' participation in the program.
- Follows up on referrals and acts as liaison between other County agencies and clients.
- Conducts educational, prevention, and recreational programs and activities for at-risk youth.
- Prepares statistical and analytical reports of program activities and services provided.
- Responds to inquiries concerning program activities.
- Meets with social and civic organizations within the community.
Examples of Other Duties
- May lead and instruct volunteer and other workers within the program.
- Performs other related duties as required.
Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited college or university with a bachelor's degree in recreation and parks, social or behavioral science, public administration, or education.
Experience as described in Examples of Essential Duties may be substituted on a year-for-year basis up to a maximum of two years for the required education.
