Energy & Sustainability Intern

Assist the VADOC Infrastructure & Environmental Management Unit, in particular, the Energy & Environmental Administrator & The Recycling and Sustainability Administrator with daily activities and tasks to be completed. The interns will be assisting with the implementation of the Agency’s Energy Management Plan regarding Energy Reduction and benchmarking. This will include the gathering, interpretation and entering of data into a cloud based benchmarking program. Additionally, developing grassroots energy reduction programs for inmates and employees. The intern will also assist with the implementation of Executive Order 77 for the complete elimination of single use plastics and reduction of waste from VAODC’s facilities. This task will also require the collection and interpretation of data, participation in internal brainstorming groups for plastics elimination, as well as coordination with outside agencies and contractors in recycling efforts.
