HJF is seeking a Clinical Research Assistant I or II to support the Detection of Early Lung Cancer Among Military Personnel (DECAMP) Consortium and Genomics of Early Lung Cancer Among Military Personnel (GELCAMP) project for the Department of Pulmonary Medicine, located at the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center (WRNMMC) in Bethesda, MD. HJF provides scientific, technical and programmatic support services for DECAMP/GELCAMP.
Responsibilities:
  1. Coordinate the collection and submission of data for clinical research projects. Performs data entry for research projects, maintains databases, and resolves queries within sponsor and institutional timelines. (42.5%)
  2. Assists with managing all aspects of subject scheduling for all assigned projects, to include: polling for dates and times of availability by contacting via phone or email, sending out appointment confirmations, preparing required items for subject visit, and following up with staff from other departments as necessary to ensure all required procedures and documentation will be performed. (15%)
  3. Organize/maintains study files for all research studies, including both electronic and hard copy paper files in regulatory binders. (12.5%)
  4. Assists in recruitment of prospective study participants including screening, consenting and registering. (10%)
  5. Assists with the collection, processing, storage, and shipment of bio specimens as per SOPs. (10%)
  6. Assists in the preparation of technical reports, summaries, protocols and other documents as required. (10%)
  7. May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
  • Knowledge and experience of standard administrative support techniques and Microsoft Office suite software products required.
  • Must be highly detail-oriented, well organized and self-motivated. Excellent oral and written communication skills, analytical skills, and ability to follow general instructions. Must be able to work well in teams as well as demonstrates excellent individual initiative and ability to work with individuals of all levels. 
  • Familiarity with qualitative and quantitative research methods preferred.
  • Scientific background and/or clinical/research experience strongly preferred.
  • Experience with database management is a plus. 
  • May perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned or directed by the supervisor. This may include attendance of and participation in required training for role.
Minimum Education: Bachelor’s degree in a Scientific discipline is required.
 Minimum Experience/ Training Requirements:
  • Level I: Minimum of 0-2 years of work experience is required.
  • Level II: Minimum of 3-5 years of work experience is required.
Work Environment: Set in an office environment.
