Museum Sales and Tourism Intern

Company Overview: Located in the heart of downtown Nashville, the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum documents and interprets the history of country music—a musical genre and culture central to the identity of the city, the state, and the nation. Accredited by the American Alliance of Museums, the museum proudly combines subject expertise, ambitious research, and preservation of an unparalleled collection with expressions of creativity in music, art, and history. The museum collects artifacts that illustrate the evolving history and traditions of country music and provides diverse learning opportunities through educational programs, publications, and exhibitions. The core exhibit follows the story of country music from its folk beginnings through its evolution as a commercial art form. Rotating exhibits examine a broad range of topics, from country classics to contemporary and emerging artists in American Currents. The museum owns Hatch Show Print, a letterpress print shop opened in 1879, and it operates Historic RCA Studio B, where Elvis Presley and many others recorded.
 
Departmental Overview: The Museum Sales and Tourism Department creates products to attract new audiences and inspire loyalty through engaging interaction and effective educational communication while providing vital revenue for the museum. Through B2B and B2C relationships, the department is responsible for all admission revenue lines at the Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum, Historic RCA Studio B, and Hatch Show Print.
 
Internship Overview: The Country Music Hall of Fame® and Museum offers unpaid internships that advance the educational goals of the student as well as the museum’s mission. Internships are designed for a minimum commitment of 20 hours per week for a minimum of 12 weeks with consideration given to individual university requirements. Additional adjustments to the 12-week, 20-hour schedule will be at the discretion of the internship supervisor. Educational programs which operate on a quarterly basis will be accommodated. Motivated students who are seeking hands-on experiences in a team-oriented environment will find excellent opportunities at the museum.
 
The Museum Sales and Tourism Intern will rotate throughout the department, shadowing and learning the different aspects of each area. They will be responsible for conducting client research, printing CDs, preparing thank you gifts, and completing other various projects. This position will report to the associate director of Museum Sales. The ideal candidate is an outgoing, motivated individual who is always looking to learn and take initiative in completing tasks; a service-oriented person with a willingness to help others. They will be detail-oriented and possess a can-do attitude.
 
Specific Internship Duties:
 
  • Shadow programs as well as tours of Historic RCA Studio B and Hatch Show Print
  • Attend meetings as needed with Guest Relations team
  • Shadow sales and service managers during client site visits
  • Assist with administrative and clerical duties for the Museum Sales Department, including data entry, printing materials, research of regional clients, schools, assisted living communities, etc.
 
Minimum Qualifications:
 
  • Enrolled in a college or university
 
Preferred Qualifications:
 
  • Junior or senior level college students
  • Events, Hospitality, Tourism majors preferred

Conditions of Internship:
 
  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights and weekends. Some hours may be before or after 9:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. CT
  • Must be able to work a minimum of 20-25 hours per week
  • Must pass a background check
