Strategy Intern

Position Overview
As a Strategy Intern, your role will be to support the Strategy Director and the Strategy Team to help brands develop, grow, and excel, informed by strong consumer insights. We are seeking a motivated and creative team player with a passion for brand, design, research, and insights. The intern will support members of the Strategy team in their roles across a variety of CPG and retailer clients, challenges, categories, communications touchpoints and channels.

Working collaboratively with Strategy, Design, Engineering and Account teams, this role assists with the strategic support on projects, supporting the research goals and contributing to the brand, business and consumer insights gathering process. This includes but is not limited to:

  • Conducting desk research, and maybe even store visits, to understand the competitive market and brand landscape for brand assessments, new brand creation, product innovation projects, and packaging design projects
  • Contributing to consumer insight and design process
  • Assisting with facilitating client or consumer workshops (innovation, ideation, concept development)
  • Tracking industry trends to contributing to internal and client-facing thought leadership pieces
 
Job Skills and Requirements
  • Passion for brand, design, research, and creative insights, with a creative ability
  • Exposure to structural and graphic packaging design and branding is helpful
  • Ability to communicate with colleagues and stakeholders professionally, friendly and articulately
  • Understanding of the design and visualization processes and terminology
  • Ability to analyze, ideate, brainstorm and problem solve
  • Ability to plan, prioritize and perform multiple tasks in time critical situations
  • Ability to be discreet and maintain client confidentiality
  • Ability to manage up and seek assistance when appropriate
  • Highly self-motivated, resourceful and detail-oriented
  • Entrepreneurial, self-starter; comfortable working within a fast-paced, dynamic environment
 
Education and/or Experience
  • Working towards a Bachelor’s degree in Design, Marketing/Communication, or a related field
  • Ability to work effectively within a multidisciplinary, collaborative team environment
  • Ability to build rapport with other team members
  • Exposure to research and strategy tools and methods is a plus
  • Computer literacy, including familiarity with Apple Mac laptop and time management software; fluency in Keynote, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
  • Exposure to design software, especially Adobe Creative Cloud, Illustrator, Photoshop and InDesign preferred
