Responsibilities of the Communications Coordinator (Public Affairs):
- Oversee preparation of daily media scans
- Assist credentialing process for media
- Support our website and other digital properties with maintenance of online contact
- Perform direct media relations outreach, as assigned by senior director strategic communications (or equivalent)
- Provide general administrative support for department directors and senior vice president, including expense processing, collecting timesheets, management of calendars, and taking meeting minutes, and other key tasks
- Work closely with gov affairs department and lobbyists
- Develop targeted outreach materials (pitches, media lists etc.) and provide planning support for events
- Draft, edit, distribute and post media materials as appropriate, including press releases, media pitches and website copy
- Media monitoring and reporting
- Support media registration recruitment and retention campaigns
- Perform other communications, administrative and logistical duties as required by business need
Requirements of the Communications Coordinator (Public Affairs):
- Bachelor’s degree in Communications/ Journalism/ PR/ English or a related field
- Prior public relations/ communications/ journalism experience/ internship or post grad experience required
- Experience using Microsoft Office Suite and Outlook required
- Excellent writing and organizational skills required
- HTML and AP Style familiarity and experience preferred
- Excellent attention to detail
- Individual supports several staff and must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and have the ability and judgment to prioritize
