VA Community Mobilization Intern
The Latina Institute for Reproductive Justice - Virginia seeks a part-time community mobilization intern to assist our field coordinator in the day-to-day workflow of Latina Institute VA and our ongoing community mobilization efforts. Over the course of 20 hours a week, the intern will be responsible for assisting our field coordinator in recruiting and preparing for several virtual events over the coming months. In addition, interns may also support field and advocacy with community education, administrative and civic engagement activities /x power in their community.
Responsibilities:
- Ensure all data collected in ThruText is added to our CRM Database
- Support with event and material preparation, facilitation and technology, and data entry for virtual meetings with activists
- Provide logistical support during the planning phase of the signature Latinas Organizing for Leadership and Advocacy (LOLA training) taking place in July 2021
- Assist the field coordinator with volunteer and activist recruitment and follow-up for civic engagement efforts and monthly community events
- Follow up via email, text, and phone calls with those who have RSVP’d to attend virtual events with Latina Institute
- Other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
- Well-organized, detail-oriented, and self-motivated;
- Ability to connect with people of varying backgrounds;
- Strong written and interpersonal, communication, and relationship-building skills;
- Experience as a team captain or managing volunteers is a plus
- Self-starter, detail-oriented, and adaptive personality
- Strong time management skills
- Must be comfortable communicating directly with community members
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to communicate in Spanish is a plus
- Knowledge of Virginia’s political landscape is a plus
- Must live in VA, MD, or DC
- Must be able to work some evenings as needed
