Public Relations Assistant

In this position you will support the Event Communications team in their public relations efforts around all annual events (both in person and virtual).

Responsibilities of the Public Assistant Intern:
  • Develop targeted outreach materials (pitches, media lists etc.) and provide planning support for events based strategic initiatives
  • Develop briefing books and prep documents to support large events, executive interviews and media tours
  • Support Exhibitor PR campaigns, including drafting newsletter copies, maintaining website updates, and logistics/outreach for Media Days and news conferences
  • Draft, edit, distribute and post media materials as appropriate, including press releases, media pitches and website copy
  • Media monitoring and reporting following events
  • Support Media Partnership program
  • Support media registration recruitment and retention campaigns
  • Perform other communications, administrative and logistical duties as required by business need

Requirements of the Public Relations Assistant:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications/ Journalism/ PR/ English or a related field
  • Prior public relations/ communications/ journalism experience/ internship required
  • Experience using Microsoft Office Suites and Outlook required
  • Excellent writing and organizational skills required
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Individual supports several staff and must have the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and have the ability and judgment to prioritize
  • Some overtime and event travel may be required
  • Must be available to work during December holidays
  • Must work full-time, Monday through Friday through February minimum
