Assistant Chief of Police: Director of Public Safety Patrol Operations

The Assistant Chief of Police/Director of Patrol Operations is responsible for the administrative leadership of the day-to-day operations, directing, planning, and coordination of all patrol division activities and personnel, to include both sworn and unsworn uniformed staff, investigations, events, and community education programming. Develops and manages comprehensive public safety programs in support of the university’s mission, departmental community policing philosophy, and campus collaborations with students, faculty and staff. The incumbent will serve on committees committed to safety on campus and within the Omaha community and assumes responsibilities in the absence of the Chief of Police.
 
Required Qualifications:
·        Bachelor’s Degree
·        Must meet the minimum requirements of a law enforcement officer in the State of Nebraska either through current good standing, reciprocity, or reactivation of their law enforcement certification and attend state mandated management training within one year of hire.
·        Five years’ experience in an administrative command level position in law enforcement.
·        Must demonstrate an ability and desire to lead in a diverse and inclusive environment and work collaboratively with students, staff, faculty and visitors of our campuses, and local, state and federal law enforcement agencies.
·        Requires a mature individual who possess the ability to think independently, use sound reasoning and judgment, and functions well in an autonomous capacity.
·        Must be able to strategically plan, develop and complete campus and department projects.
