Associate Rotation Program - Technical Track

Intelsat’s Rotational Associate Program is a highly competitive two-year program that provides recent graduates the opportunity to develop their technical skills in the communications industry at the forefront of satellite innovation. As a Rotational Associate, you will work for 8 months at a time, over a two-year period, in three different teams and experience the day-to-day responsibilities of the different career paths and work with different teams as they collaborate to achieve their goals.

Intelsat’s Rotational Associate Program
In this track, you will utilize your education and skills and have the opportunity to make a lasting impact working with the Systems Innovation, System Validation and Product Management teams. Upon successful completion of the 24 month program, you will be promoted and placed accordingly into a role that will align with and build upon your experience.
 
Program Benefits:

You should definitely have:
•   Bachelor’s degree or higher in electrical, computer, or systems engineering with a focus on communications
•   Technical understanding of communications systems, including various types of comms systems (wired, wireless, satellite) and basic performance metrics and figures of merit for those systems
•   Demonstrated analytical ability: able to define a problem space or requirements, propose solutions to those requirements, and present solution and tradeoffs made relative to the target requirements
•   An aptitude, interest, and curiosity to know how things work, learn and understand technical detail, and to create messaging and materials to communicate telecommunications solutions to customers
•   Some experience in Unix/Linux shell or other scripting
•   Effective written and verbal communication skills
•   Proficiency in MS Office Suite
•   Action oriented; Ability to work independently 
•   Ability to interact effectively with people of various cultural backgrounds
 
It would be nice if you have:
•   Java or Cucumber experience
•   Understanding of the system development life cycle, including waterfall and agile development fundamentals
 
Months 1-8 as an Associate, Systems Innovation
You will be part of the team designing and building our next generation software defined network, leveraging the latest in space and ground technologies from the terrestrial wireless and satellite industries.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
•   Work with our team leaders in the satellite, gateway, user terminal, 5G and network teams to analyze the system design for compliance to requirements. Create traceability of designs to requirements; identify gaps and work with teams to close gaps
•   In conjunction with the systems engineering team and using our collaboration tools (e.g. Jira, Confluence), design a process for managing and tracking system-level trade studies. Coordinate process with team leads to gain approval and work to operationalize the process
•   Research and evaluate potential new technologies for applicability to planned products and services. Present findings and make recommendation to senior level technical executives 
 
Months 8-16 as an Associate, System Validation
You will play a vital role in the creation and upkeep of all Automated and Manual testing endeavors. As an integral part of the release cycle, you get to partner with software developers, product owners, and program management to help define and influence the overall performance of our products.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
•   Participate in the Commercial Aviation Agile/SAFe development process [rituals] 
•   In collaboration with product, software development, and systems engineering to use Behavior Driven Development practices defining requirements and translate requirements into test cases
•   Work closely with an Agile Scrum team throughout the program increment, collaborating as the functionality is developed to build testing and validation test plans for new features.
•   Build your system level technical expertise and provide risk assessments in the various design, test plan, quality, and capability readiness reviews
 
Months 16-24 as an Associate, Product Management
You will work with internal teams to develop and launch new services.
Some of your responsibilities will include:
•   Assist in determining customer needs and desires by specifying the research needed to obtain business unit market information
•   Model product pricing utilizing market research data; review production and sales costs; anticipating volume; costing special and customized orders
•   Translate between business and technical requirements
•   Create and manage the documentation of product requirements and associated deliverables.
•   Provide business critical metrics for the services in the market, enabling better decision making
