Position Title: Physical Scientist Technician (GS 1311)

Internship Overview
Department of Interior’s (DOI) Bureau of Land Management (BLM) will host a minimum of 11-weeks of full-time summer internships. The internships will be an opportunity to bring new and diverse viewpoints to the BLM while working on specific projects targeted for attracting, recruiting, and filling mission critical and hard-to-fill occupations. Position Overview
Physical science technicians at the Department of the Interior (DOI) assist scientists in the collection, preparation, and analysis of data.

Description/Responsibilities:
The ideal candidate is someone with skill in finding, organizing, and summarizing information. They should be able to get along well with others in a team setting.
Work may be performed in a variety of settings, including office, field, and laboratory.

  • Calibrates or installs technical equipment 
  • Prepares samples for analyses 
  • Prepares tables, maps, plots, or other data displays 
  • Gathers technical data, statistics, or maps from external sources

Eligibility:
§ Preferred majors: Natural Resource Science, Biology, Environmental Science, Physical Science, Geographic Information System, Biology, Wildlife, other related majors
§ Valid state issued driver’s license required
§ U.S. Citizenship or Green Card Holder required

Criteria for Submission:
  1. Currently enrolled as a Undergraduate, Graduate Student or Recent Graduate (on or after December 2020)
  2. Resume
  3. Transcript (official or unofficial)
  4. Minimum GPA - 2.50
