Speech Language Pathologist

Frederick County Public Schools, VA is seeking Speech Language Pathologists for the 2021-2022 school year. We are located in the Shenandoah Valley, just 65 miles west of Washington, D.C. Candidates must have a valid, current school speech-language pathologist license issued by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech-Language Pathology. A Master’s degree in Speech Language Pathology is required.

The speech-language pathologist will assess students, develop and provide intervention programs to promote student success, and foster achievement for all students by working collaboratively and supporting good relations among community and school clientele.
 
 Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Assess and provide intervention services to students who exhibit communication disorders which negatively impact their achievement as well as social functioning behavior (including articulation, receptive/expressive language, fluency, voice), develop Individual Education Plans (IEP) and monitor progress toward IEP goals.
  2. Select and administer assessments based on individual needs.
  3. Possess strong knowledge of the content area, teaching methods, learning styles and educational research related to special education students of all levels and abilities. 
  4. Demonstrate strong case management, communication, organization and planning skills. 
  5. Interpret test results and write evaluation reports.
  6. Positively impact achievement and differentiate instruction based on the needs of the students by supporting programs designed to increase student achievement.
  7. Demonstrate problem-solving skills through collaborative work with students, teachers, staff, parents and administrators.
  8. Support and actively participate in a professional learning community. 
  9. Provide small group, individual, and consultative services for students across all levels of need and ability, including those with cognitive delays, autism, learning disabilities, emotional disabilities, and/or speech-language impairments. 
  10. Work cooperatively with special education teams and other staff to provide intervention and consultation regarding the speech language needs of students.

The salary range is $46,000 - $85,989 (salary scale 21-22) plus an annual master’s degree supplement of $4,109.
