NYC VISTA
About NYC VISTA:
The NYC VISTA Program supports NYC government agencies to lift New Yorkers out of poverty by increasing the effectiveness and efficiency of each agency.
NYC VISTA Basics:
VISTA members serve at New York City government agencies (known as host sites) from August 2, 2021 to August 3, 2022 to address critical city issues related to poverty by engaging in capacity building work. Capacity building refers to tasks and activities that create, expand or strengthen the systems and processes that help an organization carry out its anti-poverty work. These tasks and activities include the transfer of knowledge/skills, products, and relationships.
Direct service refers to activities that immediately address a client’s needs, e.g. tutoring or providing meals at a soup kitchen. VISTAs do not do direct service.
NYC VISTA member activities can include program development and delivery; performance measurement; research and data evaluation; community engagement, outreach and promotion; and partnership expansion and development.
