Our mission is advanced through education programs, international exchanges, exhibits, lecture series, and community outreach events.
 
Position Summary
This is a position focused on developing donors to support our mission of molding future leaders. The position itself is entry level but allows exposure to very senior executives in the organization.
 
The Development Associate will be responsible for leading all of the fund-raising programs for the Center. These duties include the major gifts program, the annual giving membership program, planned-giving, special project fund raising appeals, and capital campaigns. A major responsibility for this member of the Center’s leadership team is to strengthen the bonds with current supporters while building future donor relationships. The Development Associate will work closely with the Executive Director in all development and fund-raising initiatives.
 
The ideal candidate is someone with a demonstrated passion for our mission, experience crafting development strategies, and excellent relationship building skills. Further, she/he must be an excellent team player, effective communicator, and successful with raising funds.
 
Key Responsibilities
1.    Meet with prospective donors and current supporters regularly to establish effective relationships and to strengthen communications with them.
2.    Direct the annual fund “membership” program, including mailings and fundraising drives.
3.    Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors.
4.    Oversee grant seeking including research, proposal writing and reporting requirements.
5.    Coordinate special fundraising appeals.
6.    Support planned giving program with a focus on deferred gifts such as bequest expectancies.
7.    Solicit sponsorships, financial support, and attendees for special events hosted by the Center (e.g., Galas, Veteran’s Day, July 4tht,, Private Donor Events).
8.    Work closely with the Executive Director of the Center and Board of Directors on Strategic Initiatives such as future Capital Campaigns or other major fundraising drives.
9.    Provide Staff support to Board Development Committee.
10. Make public appearances on behalf of the Center.
11. Oversee fundraising databases and systems; administer gift recognition programs.
12. Maintain professional conduct at all times.
Qualifications
The Development Associate will be thoroughly committed to the GCMIC’s nonprofit mission. Specific requirements include:
·      Hold a Bachelors degree.
·      Exhibit strong written and verbal communication skills; a persuasive and passionate communicator with excellent interpersonal and multidisciplinary project skills
·      Demonstrate a strong desire to spend time with prospective donors and build external relationships
·      Be goal driven and self-motivated to initiate donor visits and fundraising calls
·      Be action-oriented, entrepreneurial, adaptable, and innovative in their approach to development
