Canoeing Instructors and Program Head


Eagle’s Nest Camp is currently seeking Canoeing Staff for the summer of 2021! 
Responsibilities: 

Canoeing Instructors work closely with the Paddling Head to plan and lead canoe expeditions in Western North Carolina for paddlers ranging from beginning to advance skill levels. Instructors will teach campers techniques and skills to maximize their enjoyment of canoeing and improve their abilities. Instructors must work well as a team to maintain safety standards, teach campers, and ensure the day-to-day quality of programming.The canoeing program utilizes our lake on campus, as well as many local rivers including the Green, Nantahala, Tuckaseegee, French Broad, and Watauga Rivers. Instructors will serve as cabin counselors and must enjoy living and working in the outdoors and be passionate about inspiring and mentoring children. 

Qualifications: All staff must be at least 18 years old with one full year after high school. Technical and Teaching Experience with Canoeing. CPR and Wilderness First Aid or higher certification.

Dates: Position is from May 28th to August 16th, 2021. These dates include a Canoe Clinic from May 29th - June 1st. Our canoe clinic includes a 2-day Swift Water Rescue course.  **We are offering a Wilderness First Aid course May 22-23.

Who We Are: Eagle’s Nest Camp is a coed camp over 90 years old, located in the lush mountains of western North Carolina. Eagle’s Nest Camp provides a joyful, nurturing community where campers finishing kindergarten - 11th grade are treated with respect and compassion. Campers have the opportunity to participate in 1-3 week long sessions which emphasize nature, arts, and community living. Our mission is experiential education for young people, promoting the natural world and the betterment of human character.
