Associate Researcher, The Seaver Autism Center

Roles & Responsibilities:

The Seaver Autism Center is looking for an Associate Researcher focused on developing high-throughput approaches to study autism. This is an entry-level wet laboratory research position responsible for the conduct of experiments under the supervision of the Principal Investigator.

This is not a clinical research position.

The Associate Researcher will be closely trained in exciting new cell & molecular techniques involving iPSCs, CRISPR/Cas9, and single-cell RNA sequencing. The researcher will have the opportunity to be involved in publications and be mentored by the Principal Investigator for career guidance.

We are especially interested in recruiting a technician with prior hands-on wet lab experience, especially in cell culture.
 
Duties:
  • Under moderate supervision, conducts experiments using appropriate research techniques specific to subject matter of the research project
  • Performs assays to support research studies. Experiments involve routine molecular techniques (cloning, western blot, etc), cell and tissue culture including iPSCs, and microscopy
  • Assists in the collection, analysis and review of experimental data for publication and presentation
  • Maintains laboratory environment and assists in the upkeep of appropriate inventory; may include ordering of supplies
  • Performs other related duties
 
Requirements:
  • Bachelors degree in science or related field required
  • 0-2 year of research/laboratory experience
  • Appropriate verbal, written and interpersonal skills
  • Organizational, problem solving and analytical skills
  • Scientific curiosity and enthusiasm
