Legal Assistant

Our client, an AmLaw 200 firm that works with Fortune 500 companies, seeks recent grads looking to gain experience in the legal field as a Team Support Legal Specialist/Entry-Level Legal Assistant and provide project and administrative support to their legal team.

The Global Immigration firm is located in the Financial District of San Francisco, and it will be an in-person role following all COVID-19 safety guidelines, 40 hours a week full-time.

This is a temporary/temporary-to-hire opportunity set to last approximately 3 months with the option for conversion and career growth. You will be providing world-class service to clients and using industry-leading technology solutions.

The starting pay is $18 per hour. Those converted will receive a promotion in pay.

Responsibilities:
  • Case management and data entry and continuing data integrity management.
  • File and retain physical files and documents supporting them, including H1B Visas
  • Create, alter, print, and distribute content
  • Records/cases open or close; keep any records as required by supervisor.
  • Plan internal and customer meetings, keep schedules, plan team meetings, and arrange conference calls.
  • Meet assigned deadlines and inform the supervisor of case progress/status/issues
  • Follow-up with excellent reporting with the customer
  • Maintaining contact details for customers.
  • Updating and administering status reports
  • Develop company and customer process awareness
  • Know the procedural and processing requirements for different categories of requests and applications for non-immigrant and immigrant visas (i.e., drafting and assembling non-immigrant and immigrant petitions and applications).
  • Routine reporting of cases (i.e., USCIS, DOL, NVC, etc.).
  • Make travel and process travel arrangements and other company expenses.
  • Build files for electronic and physical clients
  • Develop invoices and track payments from customers
  • Update the database client details
  • Organize, store and file legal papers
  • Mail organization, sorting, and delivery
  • Conduct independent projects
  • Monitor case status, track expiration dates, execute reports.
  • Draw up regular client correspondence
  • Providing the department with extra logistical resources
  • General administrative obligations as needed (i.e., faxing, copying, typing, etc.)

Qualities:
  • A mentality of customer service, attention to detail, and ability to reach a high degree of productivity
  • Experience using different operating programs, such as Microsoft Excel
  • Ability to multi-task with competing demands in a fast-paced setting
  • The capacity for the boss to prioritize, reach deadlines, and exacerbate problems
  • Outstanding written and verbal communication capacity
  • Desire to contribute to a productive work climate, to communicate efficiently, and facilitate teamwork
