Student Employee (Federal Work Study)

Working with the Office of Student Conduct and Integrity (OSCI) and Office of Title IX , this position is focused on assisting professional staff with alcohol and other drug (AOD) programs as well as sexual misconduct (SM) prevention initiatives. Specific duties include, but are not limited to, marketing and promoting programs including the use of graphic design and social media, facilitating sanction classes, First Round and Last Call, and assisting with evaluation and data entry. The Office will provide training in Motivational Interviewing to prepare the student employee to assist with both AOD sanction classes, First Round and Last Call. The student will ultimately facilitate alongside a professional staff instructor, gather data on the effectiveness of the courses from current and past participants, and research other effective sanction options for students found responsible for a violation of the AOD Policy. This position also affords an opportunity to serve on the University AOD Multidisciplinary Team as the Undergraduate Representative. 

As mentioned, this position will also assist with the University’s SM program. Signature programs include The Red Flag Campaign, The Clothesline Project, and Walk a Mile in Their Shoes. This position also affords the opportunity for students to participate in legislative advocacy by attending Legislative Action Day and General Assembly open meetings at the Capital Building in Richmond, Virginia. 
Federal compliance is an essential component of our office. This position will assist the Title IX Coordinator in preparing the University Biennial Report as mandated by the United States Department of Education, Drug Free Schools and Campuses Regulations as codified at 34 CFR Part 86. 

This position is funded up to $1200 per academic year; federal work study only.
