Nashville Zoo Outreach & School Programs Internship
The Education Department is offering a Spring 2022 internship (January - April 2022) for undergraduate students working towards a degree in Education, Zoology, Biology, History, or other related fields.
Purpose
The Education Department (School Programs) intern assists in the research, creation, implementation, and presentation of programs that fall under the supervision of the School Programs Manager.
Key Responsibilities
-Assist School Programs Manager with the development, facilitation and evaluation of education programs, with key emphasis on field trip programming
-Lesson plan editing and design
-Standards alignment with NGSS & Common Core in Science, Math, Reading and Language Arts
-Development of program evaluations that assess student learning
-Development of content for Field Trip planning guide and Activity Guides
Duration
Minimum of 8 weeks, maximum of 12 weeks
Qualifications
- Must be an undergraduate or graduate student enrolled in an accredited college pursuing a degree in Zoology,
Wildlife Management, Biology, and other related fields
- Must be willing to study and learn facts, provided by the Zoo, to interact with guests during Zoo operating hours
- Internships require a weekly commitment, minimum of 20 hours a week
- Applicants for these positions must submit an Application Packet, and are required to submit to a criminal
background check as well as show recent proof of a current TB test
Note: Nashville Zoo Internships are unpaid. We are unable to provide housing or reimbursement for travel expenses. Academic requirements for institution credit are the responsibility of the student intern to fulfill. Nashville Zoo will make every effort to support the student in their academic goals as they relate to the internship position outlined in the provided position description.
