As a Security Guard, you’ll help keep the Museum, its collections, employees, and visitors safe while being part of the experience that makes this place special.

WHAT YOU'LL DO

Your role will combine security, safety, and visitor service.

Help keep visitors, staff, volunteers, students, and collections safe

Monitor security cameras, alarms, access points, and assigned areas

Respond calmly and quickly to emergencies and safety concerns

Identify potential hazards and security risks

Protect restricted areas and help prevent theft or unauthorized activity

Welcome visitors, answer questions, and provide directions

Assist guests with exhibits and equipment when needed

Help create a welcoming, professional, and inclusive visitor experience

Clearly document incidents and communicate important information

Work with Security, Facilities, and other Museum teams

WHAT WE'RE LOOKING FOR

You don't have to be a career security professional to appreciate this opportunity. We're looking for someone who is observant, dependable, professional, and comfortable working with people.

Required:

High school diploma or GED

Valid New York State Security Guard License

Valid driver's license and reliable transportation

2–5 years of security or law enforcement experience

Strong communication and customer-service skills

Good judgment and problem-solving abilities

Ability to stand and walk for extended periods

Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.

Successful completion of a background check and pre-employment drug screening

Must be at least 21 years old

Nice to have:

CPR/First Aid certification

AED training

Experience in hospitality, museums, cultural organizations, events, or other public-facing environments
