Learning & Development Intern

Department: Finance & Administration, Learning & Development (L&D)

Location: Nashville, TN (Hybrid)

Compensation: Paid internship — $20/hour

The Tennessee Department of Finance & Administration is seeking a dependable and motivated Learning & Development Intern to support training initiatives that help public servants thrive. No formal training experience is required — bring your interest, your ideas, and your willingness to learn.

In this role, you’ll support the L&D team by:

  • Assisting with planning and delivering virtual and in-person training.
  • Creating presentations, job aids, facilitator guides, and quick-reference materials.
  • Helping develop and update online learning modules.
  • Supporting trainers before, during, and after sessions.
  • Facilitating activities, workshops, and demonstrations.
  • Researching L&D trends, AI tools, and adult learning practices.
  • Turning complex information into clear, accessible content.
  • Supporting communication, registration, attendance tracking, and evaluations.
  • Reviewing data and feedback to help improve training programs.
  • Maintaining course materials, calendars, and resources.

 

📚 Minimum Qualifications

  • Currently enrolled in a Tennessee college or university in education, instructional design, HR, communications, business, psychology, technology, or related fields.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Basic familiarity with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Teams.
  • Ability to learn new technology and complete tasks accurately and on time.
  • Ability to work collaboratively in a professional environment.
  • Helpful but not required: Canva, LMS experience, Articulate 360/Rise, video editing, Microsoft Copilot, ChatGPT, or other AI tools.

  • Hours: ~5–15 hours/week, flexible around your class schedule
  • Duration: 6 months with possible extension
