Interim CPDC Director
Century College is hiring an Interim Director of the Center for Professional Development & Collaboration.
Classification: Training & Development Supervisor I
Salary Range: $69,697-$101,143
Bargaining Unit: MMA
Duty Year: 12-month 261 days per year
This role will be for a limited interim term, commencing as soon as possible for a period of two years.
Under administrative direction, the incumbent performs supervisory and advanced level work and is responsible for independently handling the coordination of highly complex in-service and pre-service professional development and collaboration programs at the college. The incumbent develops, implements and manages professional development and training activities and provides consultation to managers and supervisors to reach organizational goals and objects. The incumbent has delegated responsibility to administer training functions and is required to have direct authority or the authority to effectively recommend various functions such as hiring, transfers, suspensions, promotions, discharge, etc. aligned to the supervisory function of the CPDC and related activities. This position supports internal assessment of training needs, developing training plans within the framework of a statewide and college-wide strategic plan and evaluating the results of training in terms of improved performance, specialized training programs and activities. The employee will work closely with other institution supervisors and external partners in Minnesota State, MMB and provided vendors in relating training plans to the personnel needs of the organization.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Assists management with evaluating training and development needs and develops evaluation tools for assessing the effectiveness of training. Works in collaboration with administrators to assess and suggest training as a preventative or mitigation measure.
- Provide leadership for the Center for Professional Development and Collaboration (CPDC) including overseeing activities of the faculty and staff peer mentors and related operational oversight of the staff support in the CPDC; has delegated authority to hire, transfer, suspension, promote, discharge, assign and review work, reward discipline, direct work, and address grievances among the CPDC team.
- Maintain liaison with other institutions, the system office, and other educational and training institutions and community agencies relative to training and development. Provides institution employees and administration with regular and consistent updates relevant to department expertise.
- In coordination with campus leadership. develops and facilities effective use of the division budget.
- Provides instructional content and facilitation, where appropriate, for technical, supervisors or management training programs.
- Provides institution leadership coordinator to the awards process on campus including the NISOD Board of Trustees, League of Innovations, and Century Campus awards.
Minimum Qualifications:
-Three (3) or more years of training and development experience with at least two (2) years of progressively responsible experience in content design, development, and delivery. A bachelor’s degree may substitute for one (1) year of experience.
-Strong knowledge of adult learning principles.
-Demonstrated experience in media development, publishing, and content management.
-Proficient in eLearning technology and Microsoft 365 productivity and communications software (SharePoint, Teams, Outlook, etc.) to facilitate related activities.
-Demonstrated commitment to equity and inclusiveness; able to bring diverse perspectives and experiences together.
-Excellent communication skills, i.e., verbal, listening, written, interpersonal, and public presentation.
Preferred Qualifications:
-Master’s degree in a related field of expertise.
-Experience with planning, coordinating, and implementing professional development opportunities for a wide constituent of stakeholders.
-Experience leading innovation and organizational change as it relates to programs and student services.
-Knowledge and understanding of higher education unions, federal and state higher education laws and regulations.
-Demonstrated success in building and maintaining partnerships and relationships across various stakeholder groups.
-Experience being able to delegate, collaborate, and promote consensus in accomplishing the college’s strategic plan while maintaining trust, cooperation, and cohesion across the college.
-Experience in the areas of leadership, planning, program development and evaluation, staffing, and budget management.
-Record of data informed decision-making including experience in analyzing multiple datasets and resources of information to make recommendations and implement solutions.
