Pay: $20/hour, paid monthly
Schedule: Approximately 9:00 AM–1:00 PM, Monday–Friday
Status: Part-time, temporary internship; no benefits
Cohort Commitment: October 12–December 12, 2026

The mission of Dress for Success is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life.

Dress for Success Oregon (DFSO) is Oregon’s leading workforce development agency supporting women and gender expansive individuals from all backgrounds. Our goal is to address all barriers that women face when it comes to finding employment. By tackling these barriers head-on, we aim to create a more inclusive and equal workforce. Additionally, we strive to provide a trauma-informed space, where they can voice any concerns arising in their job search. About the Internship

Dress for Success Oregon is seeking two paid Child Watch Interns to support the launch of Child Watch at WorkWell, our new coworking and community resource center.

Child Watch helps make WorkWell more accessible for parents and caregivers by providing a safe, welcoming and engaging space for children while their parent or caregiver remains onsite and accesses career services, workshops, coworking, health and wellness resources, and other WorkWell programming. 

This is a hands-on internship for someone interested in early childhood education, child and family studies, social work, education, psychology, human services, nonprofit work, or a related field.

We anticipate hiring two interns who will share weekday coverage. Applicants do not need to be available every weekday, but must be able to commit to a consistent recurring schedule throughout the full cohort.
What You'll Do

As a Child Watch Intern, you will:

  • Welcome children and help them feel comfortable in the Child Watch space.
  • Engage children through play, reading, crafts, games, and age-appropriate activities.
  • Supervise children and help maintain a safe, clean and welcoming environment.
  • Support Child Watch check-in and check-out procedures.
  • Prepare and organize toys, books, activities and supplies.
  • Help develop simple, engaging activities for children.
  • Communicate children's needs or concerns to Dress for Success Oregon staff.
  • Follow all Child Watch safety, confidentiality and program procedures.
  • Work alongside DFSO staff, volunteers and the other Child Watch Intern to create a positive experience for families.
  • Assist with other WorkWell or program projects as needed. 

    Who We're Looking For

We're looking for someone who is:

  • Experienced working with children in childcare, schools, camps, recreation, after-school programs, youth programs, babysitting or a similar setting.
  • Patient, dependable and attentive.
  • Warm and comfortable engaging children through play and activities.
  • Respectful and welcoming to families from a wide range of backgrounds and experiences.
  • Able to maintain professional boundaries and confidentiality.
  • Comfortable working in a community-based nonprofit environment.
  • Able to take initiative while also following established safety procedures and staff direction.
  • Able to commit to consistent scheduled shifts for the full October 5–December 12 cohort.

Requirements

  • CPR/First Aid certified or willing to complete certification before beginning Child Watch shifts.
  • Successfully complete a required background check.
  • Complete Dress for Success Oregon onboarding and Child Watch training.
  • Follow all Child Watch policies and safety procedures.
  • Reliable transportation to Dress for Success Oregon/WorkWell for scheduled shifts.

Schedule

Child Watch is planned for Monday–Friday, approximately 9:00 AM–1:00 PM.

We are hiring two interns to share coverage across the week, so applicants do not need to be available Monday through Friday. Candidates should include their regular weekday availability when applying.

Examples could include one intern working Monday/Wednesday/Friday and another Tuesday/Thursday, or another combination based on availability and program needs.

Compensation

$20 per hour, paid monthly.

This is a temporary, part-time paid internship running from October 5 through December 12, 2026. This position is not benefits eligible.

Why It Matters

For many families, access to childcare can be a barrier to pursuing employment and career opportunities. Child Watch creates space for parents and caregivers to focus on their career goals while their children are nearby in a supportive environment. 

As an intern, you'll gain direct experience in child engagement, family support, nonprofit programming and the day-to-day operation of a new community-based program—while helping make WorkWell more accessible for the families we serve.
