About the Role
QLS Technologies is hiring a Diligence Analyst to lead systematic quantitative evaluation of early-stage biotech assets in our proprietary modeling platform, Vantage. You’ll work at the intersection of science, investing, and strategy, building the analytical foundation for investment decisions and future fundraising, and serving as a credible technical counterpart to the academic founders behind the programs we evaluate.
Responsibilities
- Conduct primary scientific and market research on early academic programs: patient populations, competitive landscape, and mechanism of action; indication selection, clinical development plans, and regulatory pathways.
- Directly engage academic PIs to refine development activities and commercial market analyses
- Translate qualitative diligence into Vantage model input parameters, implement drug development scenarios, and run simulations
- Synthesize findings into standardized scoring frameworks for internal investment memos.
- Present screening and prioritization conclusions to the Scientific Advisory Council.
- Collaborate with the investment team on portfolio construction and capital optimization.
- Collaborate with the product team to define new Vantage functionality and expand modeling capabilities.
Background
- One of two paths, both clearing the same bar — credibility in front of senior academic founders: a PhD in bioengineering, biology, or a related field; or a BS/MS plus industry investment or consulting experience.
- Quantitative fluency, with experience in probabilistic modeling and statistical reasoning.
- Strong ability to interpret scientific literature and translate it into business insight.
- Clear communicator, able to present complex ideas simply.
