Farmers Market Sales & Startup Associate - Urgent

Farmers Market Sales & Startup Associate

About RYME

RYME is a young food & beverage startup creating a new kind of frozen treat: fruit-forward slushies made with real organic fruits and thoughtfully sourced ingredients.

We're building the business from the ground up — testing flavors, talking directly with customers, learning what sells, improving our market setup, and figuring out how to turn a farmers market concept into a viable and scalable business.

If you're interested in entrepreneurship, consumer brands, sales, marketing, or food & beverage, this is an opportunity to experience that process firsthand.

The Role

We're looking for an energetic, dependable person to join us on Saturday mornings at Newport Harbor Certified Farmers Market (7:30AM - 1:30PM)

This is not a job where you sit behind a table waiting for customers. You'll help set up the market, serve customers, offer samples, explain our products, learn how to turn curiosity into a sale, observe what customers respond to, and help us make the operation better every week.

We've been growing fast at this market with people lining up for our products. You'll be on your feet most of the time, talking to people, moving equipment, solving problems, serving customers quickly, and figuring things out as we go. We're looking for someone who enjoys that.

What You'll Do

  • Help load, unload, set up, and cleanup for the market
  • Serve frozen drinks and samples quickly and consistently
  • Talk with customers proactively and confidently introduce RYME
  • Learn how to sell — not aggressively, but by understanding customers and communicating what makes the product worth trying
  • Handle customer transactions and keep the booth running smoothly
  • Pay attention to customer reactions, questions, objections, and buying behavior
  • Share ideas about flavors, pricing, merchandising, signage, and ways we can improve
  • Help us test new ideas and learn what it takes to build a viable consumer business
  • Help film contents for social media and marketing as needed

This Might Be a Great Fit If You...

  • Are genuinely interested in entrepreneurship, sales, marketing, consumer brands, or food & beverage
  • Like talking to people and aren't afraid to approach someone you don't know
  • Want to become better at selling and communicating
  • Are willing to wake up early on Saturdays and arrive on time and ready to work
  • Have a strong work ethic and don't mind rolling up your sleeves
  • Can stay positive and energetic during a busy market
  • Notice problems and look for ways to solve them instead of always waiting to be told what to do
  • Are curious about why customers buy — or don't buy
  • Are dependable. If you say you'll be there, we need to know you'll be there.

Physical Requirements

This is a physically active job and market setup is a real part of the work. You must be comfortable:

  • Standing and working for several hours
  • Repeatedly lifting and moving supplies
  • Pushing and maneuvering equipment carts
  • Helping move commercial equipment during setup and breakdown
  • Safely team-lifting equipment in the approximately 30 -50 lb range

Please consider the physical requirements before applying. Everyone on the team helps with setup and cleanup.

Experience

Previous farmers market, retail, food service, or sales experience is helpful, but not required. We care much more about your attitude, reliability, curiosity, energy, and willingness to learn. We'll teach you the operation. You bring the work ethic.

Compensation & Growth

Starting pay: $20/hour + tips. Team members receive employee tips earned during their shifts.

As you learn the operation and become capable of taking greater ownership, there will be opportunities for increased pay and responsibility.

Our goal is to develop strong team members who can eventually take ownership of market operations — from setup and customer service to sales and closing.

And yes — free RYME slushies are part of the job

Schedule

Saturdays — 7:30AM - 1:30PM

Location: Newport Harbor Certified Farmers Market, 798 Dover Drive, Newport Beach, CA.

Consistency is important. We're looking for someone who can make Saturdays a regular commitment rather than occasionally picking up shifts.
