RF Engineering Intern
Job Title: RF Engineering Intern Role
Company: Pascal Tags Inc.
Location: Louisville, KY (In-person)
Summary of RF Engineering Intern Role
We are a pioneering startup poised to revolutionize the supply chain by introducing groundbreaking serialization capabilities for products that have remained unchanged for decades. Our innovative approach involves developing the first-ever chip-less inventory tag, enabling the serialization of every product to streamline inventory management. Currently, we are seeking a motivated RF engineering intern to support us during our scaling process. This role offers hands-on experience, direct involvement with our innovative engineering team, and an opportunity to contribute to the design process.
Despite our primary challenge of scalability, we have secured contracts with reputable companies such as GE and Brown-Forman, along with substantial funding and support from investors like Mark Cuban. We need the assistance of a RF engineering intern to help position us to reinvent the barcode and redefine supply chains forever.
The position will be full time in the Spring of 2027. Compensation includes competitive internship salary and paid housing if the intern is based outside of Louisville.
Key Responsibilities
• Design, build, test, and characterize RF systems used to detect and identify our chip-less RF tags, including antennas, RF front ends, and detector hardware.
• Use Vector Network Analyzers (VNAs), spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, and other RF test equipment to characterize antennas, RF components, and complete systems.
• Run RF simulations using Ansys HFSS to create new and optimize existing designs.
• Perform RF experiments to optimize antenna geometry, polarization, frequency response, read range, and system performance across real-world environments.
• Prototype and iterate on RF hardware, including antennas, cables, connectors, filters, amplifiers, PCBs, and other detector components.
• Support RF system deployments and validation for systems used by Fortune 500 manufacturing customers.
• Support RF engineering staff across a range of R&D, testing, manufacturing, and production projects.
Required Qualifications
• Student in electrical engineering, computer science, physics, or a similar discipline
• Due to the nature of supporting government contracts, you must be a U.S. citizen
• Prior intern or Co-op experience is preferred, but not required
Preferred Qualifications
• Familiarity with RF fundamentals including S-parameters, impedance matching, Smith charts, transmission lines
• Knowledge of electromagnetic & antenna basics; Near/Far field, Radiation Patterns, Polarization, VSWR, antenna arrays
• Hands-on experience with RF lab equipment, especially VNAs, spectrum analyzers, oscilloscopes, or similar test equipment
• Experience with RF PCB design, simulation tools, Python, MATLAB, or similar engineering tools.
• Soldering and prototyping experience
