Business Technology Associate
Paid Part-Time | Flexible Hours | Chattanooga | Possible Long-Term Position
We have a business. We have technology. We need someone who can make the two cooperate.
Storey Inspections is looking for a technologically inclined student or early-career human who enjoys figuring things out, building systems, automating boring tasks, and occasionally explaining to business owners why clicking the same button 47 times is not actually a “workflow.”
We’re a growing Chattanooga inspection company, and we need help building the technology and internal systems behind the business.
This is a real paid position—not an internship where you spend three months watching someone else work and then add “collaborated cross-functionally” to your résumé.
What you’ll actually do
You’ll help us:
- Build our internal business operating system using Airtable, Monday.com, or similar platforms
- Automate repetitive tasks that should have been automated years ago
- Build employee training and onboarding systems
- Organize company files so humans can actually find them
- Create dashboards that tell us what’s happening without requiring an archaeological expedition through spreadsheets
- Find useful ways to incorporate AI into the business
- Improve our website
- Work on SEO and Google visibility
- Build landing pages and digital campaigns
- Track leads and figure out which marketing actually makes money
- Connect software platforms that currently behave like they’ve never met each other
- Occasionally discover that the owners’ “simple idea” requires 14 automations and an API
Why you might actually want this job
If you’re trying to break into technology, you’ve probably discovered the classic entry-level employment paradox:
“Entry-level position. Three years of experience required.”
Excellent.
Here’s a way to get some.
We’re going to give you actual business problems and let you help build actual solutions.
If things go well, instead of putting this on your résumé:
“Assisted office with various technology-related tasks.”
you’ll be able to put things like:
“Designed and implemented an internal business operations platform.”
“Developed automated workflows across multiple business functions.”
“Built operational dashboards and employee training systems.”
“Implemented and measured SEO and digital lead-generation campaigns.”
In other words, things future employers might actually ask you about.
Who we’re looking for
Students or early-career candidates interested in:
- Information Systems / MIS
- Information Technology
- Computer Science
- Business Analytics
- Data Analytics
- Web Development
- AI and automation
- Digital Marketing
- Entrepreneurship
- Business Technology
- Or whatever degree you’re currently explaining to your parents
You do not need to know every platform we’re using.
Actually, we’d be mildly suspicious if you claimed you did.
We’re much more interested in whether you can encounter something you’ve never seen before, research it, experiment with it, break it a little, fix it, and eventually announce:
“Okay, I figured it out.”
That’s basically the job.
You’ll probably like this position if:
You Google things you don’t know.
You use ChatGPT for something besides writing discussion-board posts.
You’ve built something just because you wanted to see if you could.
You enjoy making inefficient things less stupid.
You can work independently without disappearing into the wilderness for three weeks.
You understand that “the computer deleted it” is rarely the entire story.
And you’d like to graduate with something more compelling on your résumé than:
Proficient in Microsoft Word.
What we’re offering
This is a paid, flexible, part-time position designed to work around school or another job.
You’ll work directly with the people running the company.
You’ll have considerable freedom to research and recommend better ways of doing things.
You’ll get real projects.
You’ll get real responsibility.
You’ll occasionally watch us discover that the thing we’ve been doing manually for two years could have been automated in approximately eleven minutes.
And if you’re good at it, we’d like you to stick around.
The position has the potential to develop into an ongoing role managing increasingly important parts of Storey’s technology, operations, automation and digital growth.
Bottom line
If you’re trying to start a career in technology but everybody wants experience before they’ll give you experience, come build some experience with us.
We’ll provide the business problems.
You help us make them less stupid.
And we’ll pay you while you do it.
