Peer Recovery Specialist
Peer Recovery Specialist
Are you passionate about helping others find hope, build confidence, and move forward in their recovery? Valley Community Services Board (VCSB) is seeking a compassionate and recovery-oriented Peer Recovery Specialist to join our behavioral health team.
As a Peer Recovery Specialist, you’ll use your own lived experience of recovery from mental health and/or substance use challenges to provide meaningful, non-clinical support to individuals receiving behavioral health services. You’ll help people identify their personal recovery goals, strengthen natural and community supports, develop practical wellness skills, and navigate behavioral health and community resources.
Working alongside clinical, case management, and other multidisciplinary team members, you’ll provide person-centered, trauma-informed, and recovery-oriented support while helping individuals recognize their strengths and build meaningful, self-directed lives.
Why Join Valley CSB?
We offer benefits designed to support your work, well-being, and future:
Starting pay of $17.75–$21.69 per hour, dependent upon experience.
$2,500 sign-on bonus.
Health insurance starting as low as $40 per month for individual coverage, with family and dependent plans available.
14 paid holidays.
Accrue up to 20 days of paid time off (PTO) per year beginning in your first year, available for use as it is accrued.
Participation in the Virginia Retirement System (VRS).
Professional development assistance provided at no cost.

The Impact You'll Have
Your lived experience can be a powerful source of hope and connection for someone navigating their own recovery journey. By meeting people where they are, sharing what you’ve learned, and helping them identify their own strengths and goals, you’ll help individuals build confidence, strengthen their support systems, and move toward the life they want to live.
If you're passionate about recovery, believe in the power of peer support, and want to use your lived experience to help others thrive, we'd like to hear from you.
