Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellow

The Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellow (CF) provides evaluation and treatment services to individuals with speech, language, communication, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and/or swallowing disorders under the supervision of a licensed and qualified speech-language pathologist. The Clinical Fellow applies evidence-based practices to develop and implement individualized treatment plans while working toward increased clinical independence and professional competency. The Clinical Fellow participates in the clinical fellowship process, receives ongoing supervision and mentorship, and works collaboratively with patients/clients, families, caregivers, and interdisciplinary team members.

• Conduct speech-language, communication, cognitive-communication, voice, fluency, and/or swallowing evaluations as appropriate to the clinical setting.
• Interpret evaluation results and identify appropriate diagnoses and areas of need.
• Develop individualized treatment plans based on evaluation findings, patient/client needs, functional goals, and evidence-based practices.
• Provide speech-language pathology treatment under the appropriate level of supervision.
• Monitor patient/client progress and modify treatment plans as clinically indicated.
• Provide education, counseling, and training to patients/clients, families, caregivers, and other professionals.
• Collaborate with physicians, nurses, educators, therapists, caregivers, and other members of the interdisciplinary team.
• Complete accurate and timely documentation, including evaluations, treatment notes, progress reports, and discharge documentation.
• Participate in team meetings, case conferences, care planning, and other activities related to patient/client care.
• Maintain patient/client confidentiality and comply with applicable privacy regulations and organizational policies.
• Demonstrate professional and ethical conduct consistent with applicable professional standards.
• Participate in clinical supervision, mentoring, competency development, and performance evaluations throughout the fellowship.
• Seek opportunities for continuing education and professional growth.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

The Clinical Fellow will:

• Work under the supervision of an appropriately qualified Clinical Fellowship Supervisor.
• Establish professional and clinical goals in collaboration with the supervisor.
• Demonstrate progressive development of clinical skills and independence throughout the fellowship.
• Participate actively in observation, feedback, mentoring, and supervision.
• Apply feedback to improve clinical performance and professional practice.
• Maintain documentation necessary to support completion of clinical fellowship requirements.
• Work toward meeting applicable requirements for professional certification and state licensure.

• Master's degree in Speech-Language Pathology from an accredited graduate program.
• Completion of required academic and clinical practicum requirements.
• Eligible to begin or currently completing a Speech-Language Pathology Clinical Fellowship.
• Eligible for applicable state licensure or provisional/temporary licensure, as required.
• Eligible for professional certification through the American Speech-Language-Hearing Association (ASHA), as applicable.
• Additional certifications or clearances may be required depending on the clinical setting.

• Knowledge of assessment and treatment principles related to communication and swallowing disorders.
• Ability to provide patient/client-centered and evidence-based clinical services.
• Strong verbal, written, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Ability to establish effective therapeutic relationships with patients/clients and families.
• Ability to work collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team.
• Ability to prioritize responsibilities and complete documentation accurately and on time.
• Willingness to receive feedback and demonstrate continued growth.
