CROSSROADS FELLOWSHIP NEXT GEN Intern Position

 

JOB DESCRIPTION (20hrs/week)

The Next Gen intern will assist the Next Gen department at Crossroads Fellowship across both campuses to ensure that all missions focused goals are accomplished. They will work with Next Gen leadership team to create and execute goals as they work with several Next Gen ministries. Additionally, this will be a vital role that offers the opportunity to (1) provide critical administrative support, and leadership support, to the Next Gen department, and (2) to provide significant opportunity for the intern to gain valuable ministry experience. This will include experience in managing multiple priorities, leading volunteers, and learning from current leaders.

 

Moreover, this intern will be an integral to the success of the Next Gen team by focusing on two key areas:

  1. KIDS MINISTRY - The Kids Ministry Intern at Crossroads Fellowship is a great opportunity to get first-hand knowledge and experience in the field of Kids Ministry! The intern will support the Kids Ministry staff in teaching our children, helping with outreach events, and working with our volunteers. Intern will have a desire to work with children of all ages and demographics. Vibrant faith in Jesus Christ and maintains a vital & growing personal walk with the Lord. In agreement with and follows the beliefs, core values and vision of Crossroads Fellowship. Is willing to work in harmony with the ministers, support staff & volunteer ministry leaders. Has good organizational skills and pays close attention to detail. Self-motivated and self-directed. Has good communication skills with staff, parents & kids. Is able to multi-task, is flexible and hard working. Ensure consistent use of policies, procedures, and guidelines of Crossroads Kids. 

 

  1. YOUTH MINISTRY - The Youth Intern position contributes to the mission of Crossroads Fellowship to develop Fully Devoted Followers of Jesus who want to Transform the Triangle and the World. The Youth Ministry Internship is designed to give intern firsthand ministry experience and grow in their personal ministry development. This position will work with Youth Ministry staff and volunteers to disciple middle and high school students and organize and manage events. The preferred candidate should have a growing personal relationship with Jesus Christ and a desire to work with middle school and high school students. The intern will be provided with a transformational learning experience focusing on the basics of ministry, understanding an effective youth ministry philosophy, and learning how to work effectively with a team. Such an intern will shadow, co-lead, and help run events and programs, as well as actively coach, mentor, and recruit volunteers. 

 

(***Please note, the NEXT GEN Intern will be directed to focus on KIDS MINISTRY, STUDENT MINISTRY, or both based on interview, or as assigned my Crossroads Fellowship and needs***)

 

EXPECTATIONS

The internship position will function to aid the individual in personal challenge, and growth, in the following area:

  • CHRIST – Show evidence of Christ at work in your life and display a willingness to talk about it.
  • CHARACTER – carry out tasks, and pursue goals, with a high character that is modeled after that of Jesus Christ.
  • CHEMISTRY – Demonstrate authenticity, be full of grace and truth, and be able to bond with the current team. 
  • COMPETENCY – Must be able to connect relationally with the team, CRF staff, and CRF attenders. Will need to have strong communication skills and follow-through on assignments, as well as being a fast learner. Also, must develop working knowledge of ProPresenter and other media platforms, to ensure the completion of weekly technical plans. Will need to develop proficiency to lead volunteers when empowered to do so.
  • CAPACITY – prioritize work time to focus on ministry tasks/goals during a 20hrs/week role.

 

SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONS

  • General knowledge of Windows and Mac operating systems (i.e. for… Planning Center, Pro-Presenter, etc.)
  • Interest in the intentional development of programming for weekly services and special events.
  • Willingness to work with a variety of people and ministries.
  • Highly relational focus on discipleship, and able to develop relationships with students and parents
  • Interns are to have completed their first year of college (or age equivalent) and must be able to pass a criminal background check. 

 

The intern will report to the College Ministry Pastor / Internship Director, Mark Stroupe, but will primarily work with the CRF Worship Department leadership team. During work hours, the intern will be expected to be on arrive on time and be a team player. 

 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES / KEY PROJECTS

  • KIDS
    • Organize & Upload curriculum to Planning Center so volunteers can prepare for Sunday
    • Organize & Upload worship & Bible Story videos to Playlister
    • Assist with prepping curriculum materials for each Sunday & clean up
    • Check and restock classroom supplies as needed. If more supplies are needed, email the Kid Ministry admin to order more.
    • Assist in leading God Squad (Kids Worship Team) 
    • Maintain social media platforms weekly
    • Be present & active in kids programming on Sunday mornings and during events
    • Assist with administrative tasks
    • Assist in evaluating programs and classroom operations
  • YOUTH
    • Participates in Youth Ministry summer program. (Will be scheduled May 15th to Thursday after the first Sunday in August.)
    • Assist and lead in the planning and implementation for youth events (ex. outreach events), to include Camp, Mission Trips, hangouts, End of Summer Bash, and various outreach opportunities.
    • Attend Youth Team, NextGen, and All Staff Meetings.
    • To assist in preparation and execution of MB and WF Youth Worship Services. 
    • Assist in the implementation of various “All Hands-on deck” events, to include Vacation Bible School.
    • Lead and mentor youth in various capacities from Youth Worship Team to Breakout Groups.
    • Contributes to the team through participation in team meetings, seeks out servant-leadership opportunities, learns, and envisions God working through them to make an impact on others.
    • Other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

 

INTERNSHIP WORKFLOW - 20hrs/week

WEEKDAYS (M/W/Th, approx. 9am – 2pm) – 15 hours

  • Arrive at designated time
  • Check in with Mark Stroupe upon arrival.
  • Check with Next Gen leadership team for task or project updates // Continue work for ongoing assignments
  • Attend Next Gen meetings when applicable

 

WEEKDAY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Progression and completion of Key Goals and Key Projects as assigned by the Next Gen leadership team

 

SUNDAYS (8am – 1pm) – 5 hours

  • Arrive on site according to time designated by Next Gen leadership team 
  • Check in with Next Gen leadership team for any changes to assignments
  • Execute all tasks that are assigned.

 

MONTHLY MTGS WITH INTERNSHIP DIRECTOR (Mark Stroupe, Internship Director)

  • 1 mtg to for brief check in
  • 1 mtg to join with other interns in the CRF Internship Program for encouragement, review of what is being learned, and how it all relates to the reality of ministry
