Registered Nurse

Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Organization: Morris Heights Health Center 

Location: Bronx, NY 
Job Type: Full-Time  

Compensation: $48.53 hourly.

Position Summary: 
The Registered Nurse (RN) is responsible for delivering safe, high-quality, culturally competent care in both clinical and administrative settings. The RN supports optimal unit operations, promotes patient health and well-being, and serves as a liaison between patients, families, and the broader healthcare system.  

Key Responsibilities:

• Ensure overall safety of patient care, incorporating cultural values and communication preferences.
• Provide both clinical and administrative support to optimize healthcare operations.
• Conduct screenings, triage, pain management, fall prevention, nutrition, psychosocial assessments, and discharge planning.
• Utilize the nursing process (assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation) in direct patient care.
• Act as an advocate and navigator for patients and families within the healthcare system.
• Prescribe, delegate, and coordinate care for assigned patients within the RN scope of practice.
• Execute medical care plans as directed by treating clinicians.
• Use nursing diagnoses to address actual and potential health issues through case finding, teaching, counseling, and care provision.
• Supervise care provided by LPNs, Medical Assistants (MAs), Office Assistants (MOAs), and supplemental staff.
• Support patients with self-management of chronic conditions and lifestyle modifications.
• Coordinate continuity of care with internal and external healthcare providers.
• Facilitate communication between care team members to ensure clarity around patient care plans.
• Participate in data collection, clinical audits, outcomes reporting, and quality improvement efforts, including Patient-Centered Medical Home initiatives.
• Assist in the prior authorization process for clinical services and medications.
• Function effectively within an interdisciplinary healthcare team.

Job Specifications:

1. Education & Certification Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in nursing (BSN) required.
• Current New York State Registered Nurse License (RN) required.
• BLS certification required.
• Phlebotomy experience preferred.

2. Work Experience:
• Minimum 2 years of experience in adult outpatient clinical settings.
• Demonstrated commitment to continued professional development.

3. Knowledge & Skills:
• Proficiency in using electronic medical records (EMR) and relevant healthcare billing systems.
• Strong critical thinking, computer literacy, and basic math skills.
• Ability to prioritize and multitask in a high-demand environment.
