Inclusive Travel Advisor

Location: Fully Remote / Work From Home
Position Type: Independent Contractor / Business Opportunity
Compensation: Commission-based with multiple income opportunities

About the Opportunity

Mattis Travel is seeking compassionate, customer-focused individuals to join our team as Inclusive Travel Advisors. In this role, you will help clients plan welcoming, personalized vacations that reflect their individual needs, identities, preferences, abilities, and budgets.

You may assist LGBTQ+ travelers, travelers with disabilities, neurodivergent and sensory-sensitive travelers, multigenerational families, solo travelers, couples, groups, and clients celebrating important milestones.

This is a 1099 independent-contractor opportunity—not a salaried or hourly employee position. You will work from home, establish your own schedule, develop your client base, and build a travel business with training and support provided through a host agency.

Previous travel-industry experience is not required.

Responsibilities

  • Consult with clients to understand their travel needs, identities, preferences, budgets, and accessibility requirements
  • Research inclusive destinations, cruises, resorts, hotels, tours, transportation, and vacation packages
  • Identify suppliers that can appropriately accommodate mobility, sensory, dietary, cultural, religious, family, or identity-related considerations
  • Create personalized travel recommendations, quotes, and itineraries
  • Coordinate reservations, payments, travel documents, and important deadlines
  • Communicate professionally through email, telephone, text, and video chat
  • Explain supplier policies, cancellation terms, travel requirements, and insurance options
  • Contact suppliers to confirm accessibility features and other client-specific needs
  • Protect confidential personal, medical, payment, and identity-related information
  • Provide dependable assistance before, during, and after each trip
  • Develop relationships with prospective and returning clients
  • Market your services through social media, networking, referrals, and community outreach
  • Maintain accurate client, booking, and commission records
  • Complete required training and remain informed about industry changes
  • Provide every client with respectful, welcoming, and judgment-free service

Training and Professional Resources

Resources provided through the host agency include:

  • Initial travel-advisor training
  • Industry and supplier certifications
  • Continued education and certification opportunities
  • Applicable licensing or travel-industry credentials
  • Business bonding
  • Fraud-protection resources
  • Errors and omissions insurance
  • General liability insurance
  • A startup travel agency website
  • Access to supplier and reservation platforms
  • Marketing and business development resources
  • Commission tracking tools
  • Mentorship and ongoing agency support
  • Supplier webinars and destination training
  • Familiarization opportunities when available

An independent LLC is not required to begin operating under the host-agency structure. Availability and coverage of certain services may vary by location, jurisdiction, provider terms, and program requirements.

Qualifications

Successful candidates should have:

  • Strong listening and reading comprehension skills
  • Excellent customer service abilities
  • Respect for people from different backgrounds, identities, cultures, and ability levels
  • Professional verbal and written communication skills
  • Comfort communicating with clients by telephone and video chat
  • Basic computer skills, including email, typing, web searching, and navigating online systems
  • Strong organization and time management abilities
  • Attention to detail and effective problem solving skills
  • The ability to handle confidential client information responsibly
  • A willingness to learn about accessibility, inclusive destinations, supplier policies, and booking procedures
  • The motivation to market their services and develop a client base
  • The ability to work independently and manage a flexible schedule
  • Reliable internet access, a computer, and an appropriate home workspace

Experience in travel, hospitality, customer service, sales, accessibility, advocacy, event planning, marketing, or community service is helpful but not required.

Compensation and Income Opportunities

Compensation is performance and commission based. Multiple potential income opportunities may be available through eligible travel bookings, group travel, supplier incentives, referrals, planning services where permitted, and other approved business activities.

Income is variable and is not guaranteed. Earnings depend on client development, booking volume, supplier commission policies, cancellations, and individual business performance.

Independent contractors are responsible for managing their schedules, developing their client base, paying applicable taxes, and covering business expenses not included through the host agency. United States-based contractors will receive Form 1099 when legally required. Contractors outside the United States are responsible for complying with applicable local tax and business requirements.

Independent-Contractor Disclosure

This opportunity does not provide an hourly wage, salary, traditional employee benefits, paid time off, or guaranteed clients.

Any startup fees, recurring expenses, insurance limitations, commission terms, and eligibility requirements are explained during the informational meeting. Candidates will have an opportunity to review the program and determine whether it is the right fit before making a commitment.
