Applicants must meet the following criteria to be considered for the Public Service Intern II position: 

  • Must be currently enrolled in a Master’s program in Health and Human Services, counseling, psychology, social work, early childhood education, or a related field
  • Must be available to work four days per week( M, T, W, TH), and two Fridays per month 
  • Must be available for one of the following shifts:
    • Morning Shift: 8:00 am - 1:06 pm
    • Afternoon Shift: 12:00 pm - 5:06 pm

 

Job Title: Public Service Intern – Early Childhood Mental Health Day Treatment Program

Location: Henderson, NV 
Department: Early Childhood Mental Health Services
Position Type: Paid Internship (While enrolled in an educational institution)

About the Program:

The Early Childhood Mental Health Day Treatment Program serves children ages 3–6 who are working through social, emotional, and behavioral challenges. Grounded in the principles of Conscious Discipline, our program prioritizes emotional safety, secure relationships, and co-regulation. Interns in this program join a trauma-informed team dedicated to creating connected, compassionate, and developmentally appropriate environments.

Position Overview:

Public Service Interns will receive training and hands-on experience supporting young children in a therapeutic setting. This is an opportunity to deepen your skills in early childhood mental health and social-emotional development through the lens of Conscious Discipline practices.

Key Responsibilities:

Plan and lead group and individual activities that promote safety, connection, and emotional regulation.

Support children in developing self-awareness, empathy, and problem-solving skills through co-regulation and modeling.

Observe and document each child’s daily progress toward individualized treatment goals.

Prepare strength-based reports reflecting children’s growth in the program.

Collaborate with staff and at times serve as lead facilitator in the Day Treatment setting.

Participate in team debriefings and engage in reflective practices to support professional development.

Who We’re Looking For:

Current enrollment in a college or university graduate program related to counseling, psychology, social work, early childhood education, or a related field.

Passion for working with young children in a therapeutic or classroom setting.

Interest in trauma-informed care and social-emotional learning frameworks such as Conscious Discipline.

Ability to build compassionate, respectful relationships with children, families, and team members.

Strong observational, communication, and documentation skills.
