Certified Medical Assistant CMA

We’re hiring CMAs across the Des Moines Metro in both primary care and specialty clinics, with opportunities to find the team and setting that’s right for you. Shifts vary but are between Monday-Friday 7AM-7PM - no evenings/weekends/holidays/on-call. As a CMA, you’re an important part of the patient’s care team—creating connections, supporting providers, keeping care moving, and helping patients feel cared for from the moment they walk through the door.

Responsibilities:

  • Assist physicians during patient exams and procedures
  • Room patients, record patient histories, vital signs, and document in the electronic health record (EHR)
  • Administer medications, immunizations, and treatments per scope of licensure
  • Educate patients on health, medications, and follow-up care
  • Coordinate referrals and patient care follow-ups
  • Ensure a clean, safe, and organized clinical environment

Requirements:

  • Graduate of an accredited program for Medical Assistants (Certificate, diploma, or Associate’s Degree) required. 
  • Certified or Registered Medical Assistant through one of the following required: 
    • National Healthcare Association 
    • American Association of Medical Assistants 
    • National Center for Competency Testing 
    • National Certified Medical Assistant  
    • National Association of Health Professionals 
    • American Registry of Medical Assistants 
    • American Allied Health 
    • American Medical Technologists
  • Familiarity with EPIC a plus! Not required.
  • Prior experience in a clinical or outpatient setting a plus! Not required.
  • For positions within UnityPoint Clinic, team members may be required to work at or to float to other locations to support optimized staffing
