Brookside Animal Hospital is a growing, four-doctor small animal practice looking for a motivated Veterinary Technician Assistant / Veterinary Assistant to join our team.

What You'll Do
Duties include, but are not limited to:
- Safely handle and restrain canine and feline patients
- Assist veterinarians and veterinary technicians with examinations, treatments, and procedures
- Assist with taking radiographs when trained and authorized
- Assist with blood collection and in-house laboratory procedures
- Perform nail trims and other routine patient-care services
- Prepare sterile packs and surgical instruments
- Prepare treatment areas, equipment, and supplies for procedures
- Assist with IV catheter setup and other treatment procedures
- Provide cold laser therapy to patients as trained and directed
- Assist with hospitalized and boarded patient care
- Monitor patients and promptly communicate changes or concerns to the veterinary team
- Maintain accurate and timely patient records
- Assist with patient admissions and discharges as directed
- Maintain a clean, organized, and sanitary hospital
- Clean examination rooms, treatment areas, kennels, equipment, and other hospital areas
- Maintain hospital laundry
- Stock treatment areas and notify the appropriate team member when supplies are needed
- Assist with surgical preparation and maintain surgical areas
- Provide compassionate care to every patient
- Work collaboratively with doctors, technicians, assistants, and client service team members
- Perform other duties that support the daily operation of the hospital
What We're Looking For
Required
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Genuine compassion for animals and interest in veterinary medicine
- Ability to safely handle and restrain dogs and cats
- Strong communication and teamwork skills
- Dependable, professional, and willing to learn
- Ability to multitask and prioritize in a busy veterinary environment
- Ability to remain calm and professional when working with stressed, painful, or difficult-to-handle patients
Preferred
- Previous veterinary assistant or animal-care experience
- CVA certification or veterinary assistant training
- Education or coursework in veterinary technology, animal science, biology, or a related field
- Experience with radiographs, bloodwork, laboratory procedures, surgical preparation, or other veterinary hospital procedures
Previous veterinary experience is highly preferred, but we are willing to train the right person who has the attitude, work ethic, compassion, and desire to learn.
Compensation
$13.00–$16.00 per hour
Starting compensation is based on relevant experience, education, certification, training, demonstrated skills, and qualifications.
