Recovery Specialist

Do you have a passion for rehabilitation, fitness, and helping others reach their fullest potential? We're looking for a motivated, energetic, and compassionate Activity-Based Recovery Specialist to join our team at Project Walk New England!

Project Walk New England is an Activity-Based Recovery Center specializing in neurological rehabilitation for individuals living with paralysis and other neurological conditions. We work with individuals affected by Spinal Cord Injuries, Stroke, Traumatic Brain Injuries, Cerebral Palsy, Transverse Myelitis, and other neurological conditions. Our goal is to help each client maximize their recovery through intensive, activity-based exercise programs that promote neuroplasticity, strength, mobility, and independence.

As a Recovery Specialist, you'll work directly with clients during individualized 1:1 rehabilitation sessions, helping individuals work toward improved strength, mobility, balance, function, and independence. Trainers provide hands-on instruction, motivation, spotting, transfers, and exercise progression while utilizing a variety of rehabilitation equipment and training techniques.

Responsibilities include:

✔ Provide one-on-one activity-based recovery sessions
✔ Create and progress individualized exercise programs
✔ Assist clients with transfers and mobility
✔ Perform gait training, balance training, strengthening, and functional exercises
✔ Utilize electrical stimulation and other rehabilitation technology
✔ Document client progress accurately
✔ Maintain a safe, clean, and motivating training environment
✔ Collaborate with other Recovery Specialists and staff to provide exceptional client care
✔ Continue learning and implementing current neurological rehabilitation techniques

What we're looking for:

✔ Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
✔ Ability to motivate and encourage clients
✔ Ability to work in a fast-paced, hands-on, team-oriented environment
✔ Willingness to learn and grow within the field of neurological rehabilitation
✔ Dependability and professionalism
✔ Ability to safely lift and assist clients, including lifting at least 50 lbs.
✔ Previous experience in personal training, rehabilitation, exercise science, physical therapy, occupational therapy, or a related field is preferred
✔ Bachelor's degree in Exercise Science, Kinesiology, Exercise Physiology, Athletic Training, Strength & Conditioning, Biology, or a related field is preferred
✔ CPR certification is preferred, or willingness to obtain
