The World Affairs Council of Connecticut is seeking future diplomats, policymakers, and leaders for our Education Assistant Internship this Fall/Winter! For college students looking to start their career in global affairs: You can help us deliver this year's Model United Nations program for over 1,000 CT high school students. preparing them to be future global leaders. 

The Education Assistant helps prepare and plan the Council’s educational programs, including Youth Ambassadors and CTWAC's Young Delegates (Middle School) Model United Nations taking place in the Spring. Candidates must have interest in global education, excellent organizational skills, and be able to help the Council on the actual days of the Model U.N. on site (December 4 & 5, 2026). Previous experience participating in a Model U.N. program is desirable. Interns are expected to work 15-20 hours per week. Internships are available for Fall and Spring terms. Exact dates are flexible.

Internships with CTWAC are a great way to connect with the world and begin your career in global affairs. Our interns are an integral part of our team helping us to curate and execute our programming and engage with our community while gaining essential experience and skills relevant to a career in international relations. 

What you'll do:

  • Work with the educational director to coordinate the Model UN program
  • Serve as liaison for advisors, delegates, and United Nations Missions in NYC (October)
  • Write committee topic briefs and help train students to lead committees
  • Develop skills in research, editing, critical thinking, data compilation and analysis, education, and outreach
  • Gain valuable experience and knowledge through exposure to leaders in foreign policy, industry, and government. 
  • Assist in the delivery of all CTWAC programs that help us engage Connecticut with the world. 

What we look for:

  • Creativity, enthusiasm for global affairs, dependability, and quick-thinking to develop solutions to unexpected challenges
  • Experience with Model UN; excellent organizational skills
  • Available to support the UN Mission Briefings on-site in October, as well as the Council's Model UN Conference on site December 4 & 5, 2026. 
  • 15-20 hours per week. Flexible schedules, working in-person from our office in Hartford. (Travel stipend available.)
