Pay: Starting at approximately $16/hour
Work Hours: Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Fridays, 12:45 PM–2:45 PM
Location: Roger Temple Intermediate School, 8510 Fern Ave., Rosemead, CA 91770

We are seeking enthusiastic, dependable college students to serve as AVID Tutors for 7th and 8th grade students during the school year. AVID (Advancement Via Individual Determination) is a nationally recognized college and career readiness program that prepares students for academic success through critical thinking, collaboration, organization, and inquiry.
As an AVID Tutor, you will work directly with students in small groups, helping them strengthen their academic skills, develop confidence, and learn effective problem-solving strategies.
Responsibilities
- Facilitate small-group tutorial sessions
- Guide students through inquiry-based learning and critical-thinking activities
- Help students develop problem-solving strategies rather than simply providing answers
- Encourage participation, collaboration, and academic confidence
- Support AVID teachers during tutorials and classroom activities
- Serve as a positive mentor and role model for students
Preferred Qualifications
- Current college student
- Strong academic skills, particularly in mathematics
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Positive attitude and willingness to work with adolescents
- Reliable, professional, and punctual
- Ability to work collaboratively with students and staff
No prior tutoring experience is required. Training will be provided.
